First, get you nose out of your phone and be observant. Enjoy looking around yourself and enjoying life. Then if something seem off, accept that and act accordingly. Smile and make eye contact. Be ready to run, take cover and or fight with appropriate force if needed. Think of situations and how you would best respond. Practice it if possible.

Work to be in as good of physical shape as you realistically can.

I don't wear any jewelry- so one gram of gold in my wallet.

The corrupt courts can charge you for being a 'pauper' regardless of the bills {AKA Fed Debt Notes} in your wallet. Do no gold or silver jewelry. They an hold you in jail on that charge alone. If the arrest for something else was legal or not.

Never trust government to be neutral or on your side.

When our kids were teens, one of our daughters friends came running and wanted in. I don't recall if the door was unlocked. She had just been beaten by her father. He came home and found that she had eaten "his" sandwich so be back-handed her and knocked her down, so she ran to us for protection. He was quite good at Karate and younger than I was. At first I went outside and tried to talk with him but he refused to settle down. We later found he was high on drugs. And he did not attack me because he know I had guns and could shoot. We finally had to call the police. A year later (after jail) he came and apologies and explained it all and was actually thankful that we had stopped him. Just his knowing we had guns and could all shoot, made a difference.
